It's a Bird!...It's a Plane!...It's Some Nut in the Water...

Ahhhh....Life's everyday adventures (Ya just never know what's going to happen).  At approximately 6 pm on March 30, 2010 a 16 year old kid drove a Ford F-150 truck into Forest Springs Lake.  The kid swam to safety while the truck remained in the water.  Deputy Craig Taylor with the Polk County Sheriff's Office arrived and called for a wrecker to recover the submerged pickup.  When Gary with Fawbush Body Shop arrived with a rollback wrecker, everyone was stumped as to how to connect cables to the truck since it was submerged in cold water.  In steps PolkCountyToday.com Editor, Willie Openshaw.  Why did I volunteer to do this?...I don't know.  Probably cause I'm not very smart.  At any rate, I braved the cold water and did my duty...Enjoy the pictures of me acting a fool (but for a good purpose). -- Editor

When we arrived this is what we found.
The water was cold. The deeper I got the more it felt like the air was being sucked out of my lungs.
Cables successfully hooked to truck!
Next I had to climb into the cab and steer the truck to the shore as it was being pulled ashore.
Gary with Fawbush Body Shop.
Deputy Craig Taylor watches.
All in a day's work.
