Driver Runs Truck off Road, Arrested for Public Intoxication, GOODRICH, December 20, 2008 - At approximately 12:55 am on December 20, 2008, a dark gray late model Chevy Silverado driven by James Anderson, 38, of Soda was east-bound on 1988 East near US-59 and ran his truck off the road and down an embankment. Deputy Vance Barry with the Polk County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the scene. Fortunately, James, nor his brother, Curtis were injured in the accident. Deputy Billy Duke arrived and administered a field sobriety test. Both James and Curtis Anderson failed and were placed under arrest for public intoxication and driven to Polk County Jail. The west-bound lane of 1988 was blocked as the scene was being cleared. Anderson had insurance and his vehicle was recovered from the scene by a family member. The scene was cleared and traffic fully flowing by 2 am.
Curtis Anderson, 43, was so intoxicated, he could hardly stand up.
A small pipe for smoking marijuana with a coat of what appeared to be (and smelled like) marijuana resin, found in Anderson's possession.
