Riley Dunson Wins Miss Polk County 2017, LIVINGSTON, January 30, 2017 - Sixteen beautiful and capable candidates assembled on Saturday night (01/28) and competed for the title of Miss Polk County, 2017.  Oz (The Wizard of Oz and other variations) was the theme for the evening.  There were also seven additional candidates that competed for Jr. Miss Polk County.  The Masters of Ceremonies, Joel Casiday and Aaron Kerrs, were lively and entertaining.  Aubri Alexander also provided entertainment singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow from the classic musical, The Wizard of Oz.  After an introduction of the candidates, there was a talent portion of the show, followed by an intermission, followed the evening gown competition.  The judges selected the final five out of the sixteen.  Those five each received a question:  Would you rather be liked, or respected? ...and why?  Here's how it all went down:

For Tyler Dunson's Coronation, Miss Polk County 2016, Lindsey Moore did the honors of placing the crown on Dunson's head and was assisted by 2016 Jr. Miss Polk County, Alyssa Rood.

TALENT

Riley Dunson performed a ballet piece and nailed it perfectly.
Emily McAdams played guitar and sung 10,000 Reasons (by Matt Redding).
Jessica Hampton put on an electrifying tap dance to the song, Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead.
Brooke White painted upside down a moving picture of Christ with a crown of thorns. Most people didn't know what she was doing until she turned the painting right side up. The performance drew a lively ovation from the audience.
Shea Lewis signed to the song God Bless the USA (by Lee Greenwood).
Lauren Murphy performed a difficult classical piano piece by Carl Phillip Emanuel Bach.
Nykeria O'Guin had the audience cheering when she performed a cute skit as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz suddenly dancing to hip hop.
Miranda Glass played piano while singing Come Alive by Lauren Daigle.
