Officer Donald Dyson (left) with Livingston PD halted a major theft (also pictured is Detective Marty Drake).
Alert Livingston Officer Catches Thieves Red Handed, LIVINGSTON, January 17, 2014 - At approximately 1 am on January 17, 2014, Officer Donald Dyson with the Livingston Police Department was patrolling the US-59 feeder road (south-bound side) when he observed a private drive that normally has a gate locked (keeping the private road closed). Officer Dyson noticed that the gate was open and observed a man wearing all black. When Dyson pulled in to investigate and the man fled (the man was believed to have an accomplice, possibly two). What Dyson found at the scene was a blue 2004 Dodge Dakota truck that was reported out of Walker County. Detective Marty Drake was dispatched to the scene to begin an investigation. The truck's bed was loaded with what is believed to be stolen merchandise. Additionally, the truck was pulling a trailer that was loaded with large commercial truck tires that were allegedly stolen from Campbell Ready Mix (Campbell Ready Mix runs adjacent to the property and private road where the stolen truck was sitting). Further, Dyson and Detective Drake found marijuana, methamphetamine, a pipe and a syringe in the stolen truck. A recovery vehicle from Ken's Towing recovered the truck and trailer and they'll be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. If caught, the perpetrators are facing a list of felonies (stolen truck, possession of methamphetamine, theft of property).
