Deputy Trent Jones checks for intoxication on 69 year old Clarence Colquitt, of Moscow.
Morning DWI, NEW WILLARD, May 20, 2025 - At approximately 9:15 am on May 20, 2025 a driver placed a call to The Polk County Sheriff's Office to report a possible intoxicated driver south-bound on US-59 in the Leggett area.  The complainant stated that the vehicle was driving in the middle of the road, running over traffic cones, and swerving.  Deputy Trent Jones was in the area and spotted the vehicle (gray Chevy Silverado) and observed the vehicle swerve several times.  Deputy Jones successfully initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle near the south end of Loop 116.  Jones spoke to the driver, Clarence Colquitt, 69, of Moscow, and could smell alcohol.  Jones had Colquitt step out of his vehicle and checked for signs of intoxication.  Colquitt was too intoxicated to follow procedures for a field sobriety test.  Jones placed him under arrest for suspicion of driving while intoxicated.  The vehicle had to be towed which requires a vehicle inventory.  Jones located a pill bottle with no label and empty.  It's Jones' opinion that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and some sort of narcotic.  Colquitt's vehicle was recovered by Smith Towing out of Livingston.

Colquitt was driving this Chevy Silverado south-bound on US-59 when he was stopped by Deputy Trent Jones for erratic driving
Colquitt was placed under arrest for DWI.
During a vehicle inventory, Deputy Jones located an unlabled empty pill bottle.
