Deandre Shermail Wright, 24, of Livingston

Confessed Murderer Gets 50 Year Plea Deal, LIVINGSTON, February 4, 2025 - On January 13, 2025, First Assistant District Attorney Tami Pierce and Assistant District Attorney Aaron DiIorio were prepared to begin trial of DeAndre Shermail Wright, 24, of Livingston, for the murder of Jasmine Muldoon as the State and the Defendant had been unable to reach a sentencing recommendation. After conversations with the family and considering the emotional impact to the family of an extended trial, the State agreed to a recommendation of 50 years of confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in exchange for a plea of guilty. Wright pled guilty and was sentenced before the Honorable John E. Wells, III in the 411th Judicial District Court of Polk County on the morning of January 13, 2025.

Ms. Muldoon had a tumultuous relationship with Wright that consequently resulted in her death from a stab wound on May 05, 2024, leaving four children without their mother. Upon Ms. Muldoon being reported as missing on May 05, 2024, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety Rangers Division swift engaged a search team ultimately leading to the collection of vital evidence and the location of her body on May 06, 2024. Without the dedicated response of our Law Enforcement Partners, our office would be unable to seek the justice that our community deserves.

The District Attorney’s office and the family of Ms. Muldoon want to express that domestic violence in a relationship is never “OK or ACCEPTABLE” behavior. If you are in a situation of domestic violence, please reach out to your local law enforcement agencies for guidance on how to seek assistance. The Polk County District Attorney’s Office and our Law Enforcement Partners here in Polk County remain committed to holding offenders accountable for the safety of our community.
