DPS Trooper Kevin Burman investigates.

Major 2 Vehicle Accident on Highway 146, LIVINGSTON, October 27, 2008 - Shortly before 5 pm on October 27, 2008 a major two vehicle accident occurred on Highway 146 about 100 yards south of the entrance of the Davis Woods Subdivision.  The accident occurred when a maroon 1998 Chevy 3500 full size truck driven by Jessie Charlene Johnson, 18, of Livingston was pulling out of a driveway called Hermes Road and pulled into the south-bound traffic failing to yield right-of-way to a maroon 1992 Ford Ranger driven by Ashley Nicole Mindiola, 19, also of Livingston.  Mindiola slammed into Johnson's vehicle with a glancing blow.  Both vehicles came to rest in the middle of 146 facing south.  DPS Trooper Kevin Burman was dispatched to the scene.  In addition Lieutenant Randy Bridges and deputies Chris Lima, Glen Edwards, and Thomas Toomey, all from the Polk County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to assist in investigation and cleanup.  Both drivers were transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital via Americare Ambulance Service with unspecified injuries.  1 lane of traffic was opened on the 4 lane highway as the accident was being cleared and investigated.  Both drivers had insurance, however, Johnson was issued 3 citations:  Failure to yield right of way, no seatbelt, and a passenger with no seatbelt, while Mindiola was issued a citation for no seatbelt.  Johson's vehicle was towed by a rollback wrecker from LakeView Wrecker Service and her vehicle will be stored at J&C Body Shop on Highway 59 North just north of the Livingston VFW Hall, while Mindiola's vehicle was towed by a rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing and her vehicle will be stored at Harrison's Body Shop in Livingston.  The scene was cleared and traffic fully flowing shortly before 6 pm.
