NAMES RELEASED FROM FATAL CRASH: CORRIGAN, October 3, 2025 - The names of the victims of a fatal crash that occurred just north of Corrigan have been released. At around 3 am on October 2, 2025, a Jeep SUV was south-bound on US-59 when the vehicle slammed into a concrete barrier plastic buffer section in a construction area. The impact caused the driver, Misti Herring, 33, of Nacogdoches, to lose control. Herring's vehicle rolled multiple times and came to rest upright. Her two passengers, Brandon Lightfoot, 28, and Michael Griffith, 35, were ejected during the rollover. Both were killed on impact. Misti Herring was flown from the scene with life threatening injuries.

2 Deceased, 1 Flown in Rollover Accident, CORRIGAN, October 2, 2025 - At approximately 3 am on October 2, 2025, a black Jeep SUV was south-bound on US-59. As the driver approached a highway construction area, she slammed into the plastic buffer zone on the end of the concrete barriers in the construction zone. This caused the driver to completely lose control as her Jeep rolled multiple times and came to rest upright in the south-bound lanes. During the rollover, 2 male passengers were ejected and seemingly killed on impact. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Corrigan Volunteer Fire Department, Corrigan Police Department, Deputies from The Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Troopers Damon Zarate and Terrence Dickens with The Texas Highway Patrol (and Troopers from Lufkin). The female driver was entrapped in her vehicle. Firemen used the Jaws-of-Life to cut the door off her vehicle and carefully remove her from her vehicle. The driver was flown from the scene. Justice of the Peace, Jamie Richardson filed inquests at the scene. Both sides of 59 were completely blocked during investigation, cleanup, and flight operations. Names have not yet been released.
