Pickup vs 18 Wheeler, NEW WILLARD, March 31, 2026 - At approximately 5:40 am on March 31, 2026, a red 2002 Ford F-150 pickup, driven by Lynn Andrew Hubbard, Jr., 22, of Brazoria, was south-bound on US-59. As Hubbard was approaching the sound end of Loop 116, an 18 wheeler pulled across from the north-bound side of 59 directly in front of Hubbard. In order to avoid a direct collision, Hubbard swerved right. Hubbard's truck scraped across the front of the front of the 18 wheeler sending Hubbard into the grass on the right side of 59. The 18 wheeler, driven by Pete Robert Barrientez, 44, of Karnes City, pulled onto Loop 116 and stopped his semi. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Deputies from The Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Corporal Ramey Bass with The Texas Highway Patrol. Amazingly, there were no injuries. Traffic on 59 was not blocked during investigation and cleanup. Both the pickup and the 18 wheeler were recovered by Smith Towing out of Livingston. This accident remains under investigation by The Texas Highway Patrol.
