Youth Director Steve Horn is leading a youth group from Central Baptist Church in Livingston on a mission trip to Guatemala.
UPDATE: 06/15/09

CASA ALEYLUYA, GUATEMALA, June 15, 2009 - Made it just fine to Casa Aleluya and doing great. The children are wonderful and have accepted our group real good. We have played lots of soccer, played basketball, hugged babies and generally loved on all the kids.

Guatemala is beautiful...

...We did experience an earthquake yesterday, and i think it was 4.8.

We worshiped Sunday in Chimaltenango with a Guatemalan pastor friend of mine. They allowed Joel to lead a song and then allowed the Brick House band to a couple. It was great.

Our team is being utilized in the following ways; some are sewing, some are mowing "Guatemalan style" (with a machete), helping out in the clinic, gardening and some general cleanup. Our students have been great just loving on the kids and interacting with them. The kids at the orphanage love the "Gringos" and like our students guitar playing and showing them affection and attention.

Many of our lady's have found their place in the nursery and I have to pry them away.

Tuesday night we plan to show a movie and provide popcorn and sodas for the entire orphanage (479) kids. On Friday we will serve all the orphanage ice cream cones.

Dee Dee, Elissa, Tori, Adrianna, Laurel and Toullie will be "Dorm Parents" for a night to allow the regular dorm parents to have a night off.

Everybody pitches in to cook and clean.

God is doing a great work at Casa Aleluya and I pray God will do a great work in the lives of our group.

Sorry it was so scattered, I was in a hurry,

Steve
